Just west of the famous River Trent in the stunning Isle of Axholme is the 7 Lakes Country Park. Set in a peaceful rural area, yet only 2 miles from Junction 2 of the M180, on the edge of the historic small market town of Crowle, it is ideally situated to explore the surrounding villages steeped in history. 7 Lakes Country Park stretches over 120 acres of leafy native woodland, crystal clear water lakes and green fields. The central feature to the picturesque Park is the magnificent 40 acre Clearwater Lake.
The Lakeside Bar and Restaurant offers a relaxing drink on the sun terrace and if you look west you can see the fabulous sunsets over the lake. Walking from the bar, to your left is the Club & Function Suite. Here you can be entertained by live acts, discos, karaoke and dancing that are organiksed by the site owners from time to time. The large childrens playground is also situated next door to the Lakeside Bar
As you turn and go past the reception office, turn right and you arrive at Lakeview, the oldest part of the Park. The first 20 bases have a fabulous view over Clearwater, the main water sports lake. You can go windsurfing, kayaking and canoeing in the mornings and evenings while Jet Skis use the lake in the afternoon. This gives you plenty of peace and quiet in the evening or early morning. We do not hire out boats and jet ski's, these are for people who bring their own. If you wish to use the lakes the Site Owners do expect you to take the short Safety and Security course at the start of your stay so they can supply a certificate of competency. Further details on this can be acquired from the Park Owners
If you are a keen Fisherman/woman you will catch and array of Carp to 32lb, monster croc Pike to 28lb, also other coarse fish include Tench, Rudd, Eels, Perch and Roach. The Lake depths vary between 6ft and 38ft giving the fish plenty of places to hide. Fishing pegs are available around the east shore of the lake.
In February 2005 and December 2007 the lake was stocked with Mirror Carp between 8" and 10". The 2005 fish have significantly increased in weight since their introduction.
As you walk down Lakeview Lane you stroll through the Willows nestling under mature towering trees. Opposite the Willows is Fir Trees, looking over the Fir Tree Pond. From there, heading west you come to the shores of Riverside Lake. From a large pool, the lake narrows to a wide channel before joining back to Clearwater. This is a truly stunning location within the park and owners have described it as “heaven”.
Off the beaten track behind the Riverside lake you can find Everglades Carp Lake. For serious carp anglers the pegs and stalking areas around this lake have to be seen to be appreciated. The Everglades Carp record is 32lb 10oz. The Lake is set within mature woodlands, and has 11 islands and a number of sunken bars, roughly 6ft to 12ft in depth.
Come along and relax, enjoy the laid back lifestyle, a spot of fishing maybe, a leisurely ramble or just soak up the atmosphere with a refreshing drink in the Lakeside Bar overlooking the magnificent Clearwater Lake.
There are walks through forests where you can spot Deer among the trees, great for little holidayers to go exploring. Meet some of our Ducks and Geese that wander around the site too, looking for bread bits and noseying into what you are doing.
